Executive Coach | Learning & Development Consultant | Instructional Designer
Meet Chun
Hello. I'm Dr. Chun Chih Chen — an executive coach, learning and development consultant, and instructional designer based in Toronto, Ontario. I help leaders grow, teams thrive, and organizations learn. Whether you're navigating a leadership transition, rethinking how your organization develops talent, or standing at a professional inflection point, I'm here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
With experience across higher education and the broader public sector, I've partnered with leaders and organizations at every stage — from emerging managers stepping into their first role to senior executives navigating complex change. In my work at the University of Waterloo, I design and facilitate development programs at every level — from individual employees and teams to senior leaders — creating learning experiences grounded in real organizational need. As a former Board Member for eCampusOntario, I've also had the privilege of shaping provincial digital learning initiatives at a systems level.
My approach sits at the intersection of leadership development, organizational learning, and human-centred design. I draw on psychometric tools, including Hogan Assessments and EQ-i 2.0, alongside proven coaching frameworks to help people see themselves more clearly, lead more effectively, and build teams that perform at their best. Before I became a coach and learning designer, I was a research scientist, and that background still shapes how I work: I ask better questions, look for evidence, and stay curious about what's really going on beneath the surface.
I hold a PhD in Comparative and Integrative Physiology from York University and a Master of Education from the University of Toronto, and I'm a certified executive coach through the Rotman School of Management. I'm also a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, certified in Web Accessibility, and trained in Hogan Assessments and the Emotional Quotient Inventory. I'm a member of the International Coaching Federation, the Association for Coaching, EDUCAUSE, the Institute for Performance and Learning, and the International Association of Accessibility Professionals.
